【𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐎𝐟 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐬・𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐬】

Hops can be assertive and pungent, yet also graceful and elegant - and that’s why we can never resist the temptation from hop-forward beers! This time, we’re taking you to Belgium 🇧🇪 to learn about the classy and fragrant noble hops.

European hops are considered the more traditional and historical types and that’s why they are also known as “Old World hops”. There are 4 acclaimed European hops: Hallertauer Mittelfrüh, Tettnang, Spalt and Saaz. They are also known as “Noble Hops”, mostly due to their elegant spicy, herbal, floral, woody and earthy aromas.

The beer we’re highlighting this time is an unusual one, it’s a Belgian interpretation of an IPA with a blend of Old and New World hops. Houblon Chouffe (brewed by Achouffe in Belgium) is an IPA brewed with Saaz (a European noble hop), Amarillo and Tomahawk (both New World hops from the U.S.). The beer embodies the best of both worlds - its abundant floral, herbal and spicy hop aroma; and the wonderful fruity notes of grapefruit and citrus. The hop bitterness is balanced by the big malty body and the expressive estery fruitiness from the traditional Belgian brewing style.

【歌頌邪惡之草・貴族啤酒花篇】

啤酒花美麗又邪惡——佢嘅味道千變萬化，令人回味無窮、欲罷不能！今次我哋帶大家到比利時🇧🇪，體驗一吓歐洲「貴族啤酒花」嘅幽香同比利時獨有嘅釀酒風格。

歐洲種嘅啤酒花擁有較長嘅歷史，佢同英式啤酒花同屬「舊世界」(Old World)啤酒花；而歐式啤酒花又名「貴族啤酒花」(Noble Hops)，以其優雅芳香聞名。貴族啤酒花主要有四個傳統品種：Hallertauer Mittelfrüh、Tettnang、Spalt同Saaz；味道以辛香(spicy)、花草香(herbal & floral)、木香(woody)、泥土氣息(earthy)為主。

今次介紹嘅啤酒比較特別——佢係新、舊世界嘅結晶品。Houblon Chouffe係比利時Achouffe酒廠釀嘅IPA，結合咗新舊世界嘅啤酒花、同比利時傳統Tripel嘅風味。用上捷克貴族啤酒花Saaz、新世界美式啤酒花Amarillo同Tomahawk，令啤酒除咗有優雅嘅花草香，亦豐富柑橘、西柚鮮果香。啤酒同時結合咗比利時傳統Tripel嘅風味，佢獨特嘅麥芽、果香甜味，平衡咗啤酒花嘅甘苦味之餘，仲加添咗味道嘅層次！
